Luo Qingli is the daughter of the strict disciplinarian Luo Mingjue. Growing up under her mother's oppressive control, she leads a stifled and repressed life. Zhao Zhiye's younger sister, Zhao Zhiwan, commits suicide by jumping off a building after being harshly reprimanded by Luo Mingjue due to school rumors. Seeking revenge, Zhao Zhiye deliberately gets close to Luo Qingli, orchestrating a "hero saves the beauty" scenario to win her heart. As the two grow closer, Zhao Zhiye influences Luo Qingli to rebel against her mother, encouraging her to experiment with smoking, drinking, and ultimately leading to her pregnancy. At Luo Qingli's violin award ceremony, Zhao Zhiye publicly exposes her "corrupted" behavior, causing her to suffer a miscarriage and driving Luo Mingjue to a mental breakdown. Five years later, the two meet again.
