Lorenzo De Santis runs the New York mafia. They call him the Reaper. Three years ago, the woman he loved walked out on their wedding, so Lucia Bianchi took her place and became his wife to keep his alliances from collapsing. For three years, she washed the blood off his shirts and cleaned up his aftermath, while he treated her like she was nothing. One word from Bianca, and he'd leave her. One crisis from Bianca, and he'd abandon Lucia in the rain. The night she stopped caring, she hid divorce papers in a stack of files. He signed without reading. She burned the wedding photo, threw the ring away, and flew to San Francisco. Weeks later, he found out what he'd signed away: his marriage. He flipped New York upside down looking for her and offered the emerald bracelet, the mark of a queen. But Lucia didn't want the crown. She wanted a life that was hers.
