At eighteen, Vera gave her first love to Mason, the ice hockey captain she had admired for six years, hoping her crush would finally blossom. The next day, she overheard him telling his teammates that she was merely practice for him to pursue another girl. Instead of begging for responsibility, Vera gave up their MIT admission and transferred to a university 1,500 miles away. Years later, a disgraced and ruined Mason knelt to beg her return, only to find Vera engaged to Mateo, heir of the Suarez shipping empire. She once chased him in vain, now she is cherished by the right man.
