Qin Zhengshu is known as the "Grim Reaper of the Law," with a flawless track record in court. Duan Chengzhou, son of Longcheng's wealthiest magnate Duan Hairong, stands accused of rape and hires Qin Zhengshu to secure a not-guilty verdict. Meanwhile, after learning that Qin has taken his case, Duan Chengzhou spots Qin Hao—Qin Zhengshu’s son—and his pregnant wife Li Qing at a hot pot restaurant. Arrogant and entitled, Duan Chengzhou proceeds to harass and humiliate the couple. At a critical moment, Qin Zhengshu arrives and reveals his identity. But Duan Chengzhou refuses to believe him and continues his assault, only leaving when it’s time for the trial. In the courtroom, as the defense attorney steps forward, the smug Duan Chengzhou freezes in horror—he realizes the very man he insulted is the prestigious lawyer he desperately hired to defend him.
