Vera Gibson, a shy young woman from Minnesota working as a low-level theater employee, unexpectedly gets the chance of a lifetime: to audition for the iconic role of Greta Stone in the legendary play Stone’s Fantasy. The role once made a star of the glamorous yet tightly-controlled actress Birdie Edwards. Despite skepticism from the director and her own lack of experience, Vera possesses something no other candidate does—raw emotional truth and a disarming, sensual vulnerability that instantly captivates Birdie. Birdie agrees to mentor her, but their rehearsals quickly blur the line between discipline and desire. What begins as training evolves into an intoxicating, dangerous attraction neither woman can ignore. Under Birdie’s intense guidance, Vera transforms—from insecure girl to rising star—while Birdie awakens to parts of herself long suppressed by her controlling husband and producer, Mason Edwards. Their secret bond grows into a passionate affair.
