Sarah Claire, as the eldest daughter of the Claire family, had devoted not only her true heart but also silently endured the pain of Kian, the Godfather of the Sterling family, voluntarily subjecting himself to punishment year after year in order to delay their marriage over their ten‑year relationship. However, when she discovered that Kian had already identified the true killer of the old Godfather four years ago, yet had burned evidence four times to protect Vivian, and had even publicly hurt her to defend Vivian, Sarah's heart died completely. She resolutely left New York, flew to the West Coast, and entered into a notarized marriage with Lucius, a destitute boy she had saved in her youth who had now become the Godfather of the Valerius family on the West Coast. At the same time, Kian, having lost Sarah, chased after her madly to the West Coast, trying to win her back, but faced obstacles everywhere and could only watch helplessly as Sarah and Lucius lived in harmony. Vivian, driven by love into hatred, disguised herself as a medical worker and kidnapped the pregnant Sarah, forcing her to make a life‑or‑death choice between the two men at an altitude of ten thousand meters. In the end, Kian atoned for his betrayal with his life, dying together with Vivian. Sarah and Lucius confirmed their feelings for each other through the life‑and‑death ordeal.
