On New Year’s Eve twenty years ago, Zhao Xueqing got separated from her parents and younger brother at the market. After twenty years of searching for her family, she suspected her disappearance might be related to their preference for sons over daughters. So she disguised herself as a factory worker to test her birth parents, only to feel the genuine warmth of the elderly and the villagers.Just as her brother brought the Gu family to visit the Su family—his future in-laws—on New Year’s Eve, she decided to keep her disguise to judge her brother’s character. Unexpectedly, the Su family, citing the Gu family’s poverty, demanded a sky-high bride price and a wedding house, and arrogantly put the Gu family in their place.
