In the icy North, Elara was always second best to her adopted sister—even to her fiancé, the feared Duke Torin. Heartbroken by his constant neglect, she vanishes on the eve of their wedding, spending eight years forging a fierce and independent life. Fate intervenes when Torin suffers a severe head injury in battle, erasing his memory of the last eight years. He awakens believing they are freshly engaged and deeply in love. Brought back to aid his recovery, Elara refuses to play the devoted bride for free—she coldly charges him by the hour! As Torin’s memories slowly return, he must face the devastating truth of his past cruelty. Can the once-arrogant Duke win back a vanished bride who no longer needs him?
