After an eight-year transnational romance, He Xiguang poured her entire fortune of 30 million US dollars into paving the way for her lover, Shi Jiuchen, to pursue scientific research overseas. However, her annual green card applications were repeatedly rejected. A visa application revealed the truth, shattering all her illusions: Shi Jiuchen had already registered his marriage with his sister-in-law, Zhou Wanyi, using the sham marriage to help the mother and son obtain residency, treating her merely as a tool for financial support. The two conspired to make things difficult for her, deliberately skipping out on her bill at a restaurant to freeze her bank account, seizing the property she had purchased outright, and even slapping her in public during a confrontation. Exhausted from her suffering, He Xiguang, who had been hiding her identity as a wealthy heiress, launched a powerful counterattack: paying off the house, reclaiming it, legally demolishing all private property inside, withdrawing all research funding from her foundation, clearing out the laboratory equipment, and reclaiming all research patents, effectively cutting off the foundation of Shi Jiuchen's career. Desperate, Shi Jiuchen resorts to high-interest loans and steals confidential technology. In their desperate situation, Zhou Wanyi exposes each other's misdeeds, leading to multiple charges including marriage fraud and malicious evasion of payment. Both are convicted of serious crimes by the immigration authorities and forcibly deported, permanently banned from entering the country. Upon returning to China, Shi Jiuchen is burdened with enormous debt and forced to work on construction sites. Zhou Wanyi lives a life of poverty, plagued by serious illness, and their child, left unattended, goes astray. In contrast, He Xiguang clears away all burdens, successfully listing his billion-dollar He Group, achieving success in both career and love, and reaching the pinnacle of his life.
