Miles Shaw proposes to Hallie Roane for the 99th time—but she rejects him once again, claiming that marrying him would leave blood on their hands. Later, Miles survives an accident and becomes engaged to heiress Faye Keller. Months afterward, Hallie runs into Miles again, who shuns her and no longer pines for her like a lovesick puppy. As obsession and the desire for revenge collide, the three are pulled into a dangerous web of love and hate.
