Chloe Shaw once had love from Gabriel and friendship with Serena, only to endure five years of betrayal, abuse and imprisonment from them. Shattered, she drowned herself and was declared dead. Three years later, she reappeared elegantly at an academic summit. When Gabriel begged for forgiveness, she coldly denied knowing him and discarded their promise ring. Evan, who saved and healed her, stayed by her side. Gabriel and Serena ruined each other in guilt. Chloe felt neither hatred nor forgiveness, only disdain. She no longer sought redemption, only the brightness she earned on her own.
