Veteran investigative reporter Ethan was framed by three protégés he had personally mentored, then ousted from the newspaper. Soon after, he became bound to the Nightlight System: he could only run a hot dog stand between midnight and 4 a.m. With sincere craftsmanship, he turned Midnight Hot Dogsinto a landmark of the late night. Yet he faced constant plagiarism, smear campaigns and sabotage from his former subordinates, who ran the luxury dining venture Gilded Night Feast. In the end, Ethan cleared his name with solid evidence and refused to yield to capital. His rivals collapsed under their own lies and mounting debts. Ethan still shows up promptly to run his stand, open for only four hours a night, living the life he truly wants.
