In a near-future judicial system, the Echo device reads memories, with a hidden module generating a 'soft version' that dulls pain. The AI doesn't alter memories—it indulges humanity's desire to escape suffering. Centered on a death penalty case, a group of people expose the system's dark core and ultimately reveal where the ethical boundary truly lies.
