Riley Hennison, the heiress of a wealthy family, fell prey to the schemes of her friend Maggie Johnston, who ultimately stole Riley's boyfriend. After a night of passion with Gavin Brooks, compromising photos surfaced, tarnishing Riley's reputation, leading to her ostracism by her family. Ten months later, Riley gave birth to a child. For the child's welfare, Riley and Gavin agreed to marry. Unaware of Gavin's true identity, she mistook him for a man of modest means. Riley willingly contributed financially to their household, oblivious to the fact that Gavin was the CEO of the Brooks Group.
