Valentina Rinaldi was once Nightshade, the deadliest cleaner of Red Lily, and the woman Luca Moretti promised to love forever. But when Luca protects fragile Mia over her again and again, even signing off on a brutal punishment against her, Valentina chooses the only escape left: she pays to erase every memory of Red Lily, Luca, and the woman she used to be. Three years later, she lives quietly as a bookstore owner in Palermo, unable to remember the man who ruined her. When Luca finally finds her, he realizes the woman who loved him is already dead, and the woman who survived owes him nothing.
