Melissa was an overweight girl and the adopted daughter brought home by the Cullen family. She once enjoyed all the love from her family. However, when the family’s biological daughter, Ollie, returned, Melissa became the target of endless mistreatment. Her family despised her for being “disgustingly fat” and not being a blood relative, and under Ollie’s influence, they believed Melissa was lazy and materialistic. But they never knew that the Melissa they had cast aside had actually gained weight due to conducting experiments to cure their hereditary illness. After Melissa’s research records were destroyed and she was driven out of the house, the family finally learned the truth about her sacrifices. They wept and begged her to return—but it was already too late.
