Fiona, a half-dragon princess of misfortunate birth, is cursed with an insatiable hunger and a destiny of eternal poverty. After devouring the last granary of the dragon homeland, Starfall Crater, she is banished by the elders and sent to the human world, tasked with finding her lost family to break her ill-fated lot. In the mortal realm, she saves the elderly Lady Violet of House Lannister with her dragon magic and is taken in by the ducal household. Cold–faced Duke Alistair, who trusts no one, is slowly won over by Fiona’s clumsy sincerity—her dragon fire warms the bitter nights, her monstrous appetite fills the empty halls, and her pure heart chips away at his frozen armor. Yet fate is never kind without a twist. Through a tangle of misunderstandings and buried truths, Alistair finally discovers that the laughing, food–devouring little hybrid who always hides her pain behind a smile is none other than his long–lost daughter. The family she crossed the world to find had been holding her all along; and the “curse of poverty” she so desperately fled was merely fate’s longest road—leading her home.
