When the truth finally comes to light, he realizes that the girl he has been tormenting is the very child he has been searching for all these years. Consumed by regret, he goes mad trying to make amends, throwing his fortune and power at her feet. But her heart has turned to ice. She refuses to forgive him, walking away without a backward glance.
