Ten years ago, brilliant PhD Monica Carpel vanished during a mountain research trip—abducted and imprisoned in an isolated village, where she gave birth to a daughter, Nina Carpel. A decade of torment nearly broke her, until her daughter—guided by teacher Ruth Leed—helped her escape. Back in the city, she finds no peace. To reclaim her child and seek justice, she returns to the village with her fiancé Simon Locke and her family’s power.
