After twenty years abroad, Reynold Zedler returns to Saltgrave—not only to find his estranged son, Dylan, but to uncover the truth behind his wife's murder. He finds Dylan living in poverty, working as a laborer, while Dylan's pregnant wife, Eva, is terrorized by the city's corrupt elite.
