Lu Jingming, childhood sweetheart, gave up his Stanford offer for Su Qing, who came from a modest background, breaking his promise to study in the US with Lin You. Lin You, heartbroken, single-handedly completed the procedures for a full-scholarship PhD at Stanford, severing all ties with her past relationship. Su Qing, in reality, was vain and deceitful, swindling Lu Jingming out of his money and even stealing Lin You's old thesis to commit academic fraud. Lin You submitted evidence to expose her, and Lu Jingming was implicated in the scandal and had to suspend his studies. Years later, Lin You became a top AI expert, living happily with her partner Cheng Lang; Lu Jingming and Su Qing reaped the consequences of their actions, falling into poverty and hardship. Lin You, however, remained true to herself, taking responsibility only for her own future and striving for a brilliant life.
